February 4
 
WXPR’s White Pine Jamboree will be held at the Taj Northwoods Event Center in Rhinelander, on Saturday, February 4th. The event features an open jam session, old time fiddle contest and dance with the Mastodon String Band. Doors open at 3pm. Admission is $15.00 for Adults, $5.00 for kids and a family pass (2 adults and 2 kids) for $35.00. Kids under the age of 6 are free.
 
Flambeau River State Forest west of Phillips will sponsor their twentieth annual Candlelight Ski Saturday, February 4, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Skiers will meet at the Flambeau Hills Trailhead where picnic tables and barbeque grills will be provided; chili, hot dogs and spiced tea will be provided as will warming fires along the ski route. Lakeland ATV Club will host the annual Kind Gary Ice Fishing Jamboree Saturday, February 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the south end of Squirrel Lake west of Minocqua. Proceeds will benefit the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization, and prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught in six species categories. Pro Arte Quartet from Madison will perform in concert Sunday, February 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theater. The popular group’s repertoire includes classical standards and commissioned works, and the performance is an offering of the Nicolet Live! Series. Outdoor Women’s Group will meet at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, February 5, at Afterglow Resort north of Phelps for a snowshoe, cross-country ski and tubing event on the trails. Rhinelander District Library will host the presentation So You Think You Want to be a Beekeeper Monday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. Veteran beekeeper Paul Goossen and President of the Oneida County Beekeepers Association Moria King will host the presentation, and the event is open to the public at no charge. Northern Waters Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, February 7, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Boulder Junction Community Center. Dick Fields will present Migration and Immigration of Settlers to the Great Plains During the Last Half of the 19th Century, and all persons interested in family history and genealogy are welcome. Three Lakes School District will host an informational meeting for parents of incoming four-year-old kindergarten children Wednesday, February 8, from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Three Lakes Elementary School. Friends of the Olson Memorial Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Saturday, February 9 to 11, at the library. Vilas County Master Gardeners will host a free workshop on native plant gardening featuring lake specialist Patrick Goggin Thursday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River. The program will discuss good choices for native plant gardening, propagation techniques, and the medicinal value of native plants.
 
Northwinds Toastmasters will hold an open house Thursday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Riverstone Restaurant in Eagle River. Rhinelander will host its fifth annual Taste of Chocolate in the downtown area from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10. An entry ticket entitles the holder to a taste of chocolate at each of 35 participating businesses and a chance for a cash giveaway. UWSP Treehaven will  host the “Treehaven Tromp”, a 5k and 10k snowshoe fun-run and race. The “Tromp” is part of the “Braveheart Snow Shoe Racing Series”, and a 2011-2012 United States Snowshoe Association Regional Qualifying Event. Faithful Fighters Relay Team kicks off the 2012 Relay for Life with a dinner, raffle and auction event Saturday, February 18, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Oneida Village in Three Lakes. Appetizers will be served at 5:00 with dinner at 6:00 followed by a live auction at 7:00. Cancer survivors will be recognized, and live entertainment will be provided by Big Road and Friends.
