North Lakeland Discovery Center will host the Northwoods Birding Festival Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11. The event includes presentations by Jim Krakowski and naturalist John Bates, field trips, bird banding demonstrations and a variety of workshops. Live raptors will be on display. Wisconsin Multiple Sclerosis Foundation will host Walk MS, a 2.5 mile walk, Saturday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m. at Rhinelander High School. The number for more information and to register as a walker is 800-242-3358.
Phelps School will present its spring musical Aladdin Saturday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The event includes a sit-down dinner at 6:00 and promotes student opportunities for cultural and artistic enrichment. Ticket information is available at 715-545-2724.

Northwoods Trout Unlimited will host, Kit Duebler, author of Trout Fishing Wisconsin Spring Ponds, and DNR fisheries biologist, Dave Siebel, presenting on Trout Fishing Spring Ponds- at Trees for Tomorrow in Eagle River on Monday, May 13th at 6pm. Kit will share his knowledge, including the tackle, tactics, and techniques that have proven to be effective for catching trout in spring pond. Dave Siebel, fisheries biologist with the Wisconsin DNR, will talk on spring pond management and restoration. More information is available through Northwoods Trout Unlimited at 715-482-0394.

The public is invited to a bike maintenance clinic on Tuesday, May 14th, from 5:30-8 p.m., at Marshfield Clinic Woodruff Center as part of National Bicycle Month. Professional bicycle mechanics will be on hand to teach participants how to fix, maintain and improve their bikes. The Center is located at Highway 47, Woodruff. Andy has details at 715-356-1618

The Demmer Library in Three Lakes will host a gardening workshop on Wednesday, May 15th, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Library. Guest speaker Michele Sadauskas will share her expertise with gardening in our short growing season.
May 16
WXPR will sponsor Treehaven’s Spring Dinner and Concert featuring the Woodland Strings on Thursday, May 16th. Dinner begins at 6:00pm with the Concert at 7:15. Ray Rousseau Post 3143 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a thank-you chow featuring military stew Saturday, May 18, beginning with a social hour at 4:30 p.m. Theme of the event is Honoring the Dead by Helping the Living. The Northwoods Singers and the Northwoods Youth Choir present 'Songs of Renewal' on Thursday May 16 at 7pm at Ely Memorial Church in Land O' Lakes, and Sunday May 19 at 4pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River. The Demmer Library in Three Lakes will host an herb gardening workshop on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:30 p.m. Mary Ann Lambrecht, President of Vilas Master Gardeners, will be the presenter.
