Posted 10/09/2012
Eagle River Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center Executive Director Connie Heeg says the weekend Cranberry Fest was as large as last year's crowd...estimated to be 40,000 attendees...
"....we had over 300 crafters that sold so much stuff they couldn't believe it...our food was gone by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday...the World's Largest Cranberry Cheesecake was sold out at noon on Sunday for the Make-A-Wish Foundation...
Heeg says an almost identical number of parking passes issued showed the crowd to be as large as last year's.
On the heels of that success, Heeg says they've sold out available spots for the 8th annual USA Hockey/LaBatt Blue Pond Hockey National Championships.....
"we wanted to get the news item out there because we still have people calling us about the event. We have a new record 346 teams from 26 states plus Canada that are already signed up and paid for to be in the next event..."
The first year, 40 teams from 11 states participated on 7 rinks.
