State To Check Schoepke's Ballot Totals
Posted 12/08/2012
Oneida County Clerk Mary Bartelt says this type of voting machine audit happens every four years...
"....the Government Accountability Board picks 100 units in Wisconsin to audit their voting machines. This year (Oneida county) was picked for the town of Schoepke. What will happen is we will need to do a total recount...."
She says the goal is to see whether the voting machines are counting accurately.
Bartelt says there are two styles of voting machines used. She says after a number of counts, officials will see if all the numbers match each time.
She says there were just 247 votes cast in Schoepke last month, so that will speed the process a bit, but each office...starting with the Presidential race...will be audited and checked.
She says the audit is open to the public at Committee room #1 of the Oneida County courthouse Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
