School Kids Learn Electric Safety
Posted 01/12/2013
Wisconsin Public Service is presenting a highly visual path to ground program about the hazards of overhead and underground power lines.
WPS spokesperson Leah Van Zile says the presentation is free to area middle schools...
"....to teach the kids how to be safe around electricity. It's called our "Path To Ground" electric safety program. It's a fun program aimed at sixth through eight grade students. It's free for teachers. It's an hour presentation and there's a live demonstration...."
VanZile says three messages emerge: always respect electricity, stay away from downed powerlines and never become a "path to ground", or a conductor of current which is usually fatal.
VanZile says they will do the program free of charge at other classrooms if teachers want to have the program. Wednesday the program will be at the Sugar Camp Elementary School, Thursday at the Elcho School and January 23 at James Williams Middle School in Rhinelander.
VanZile says more information is on the website
