Wisconsin Deer Hunt Numbers Up

DNR Wildlife surveys manager Brian Dhuey says nearly 367,000 deer were taken through all the seasons, giving Wisconsin a top-5 ranking for deer harvests nationally.
Dhuey says the nine-day gun hunt in November produced more than 245,000 of those deer. But Dhuey says the archery season also was successful...
"....archery had a record buck kill....the archery buck harvest had been on the increase for the last four or five years and they set a new, all-time archery buck harvest..."
Dhuey says hunter surveys found an increase in sightings of deer during both the archery and firearm seasons. He says many of the bucks taken were in agricultural areas of the state.
