Potawatomi Foundation Funds Loan Fund In Forest Co.
Posted 02/05/2013
The tribal Foundation awarded $25,000 to further the recently-established fund.
Partnership Executive Director Jim Schuessler says Forest county has never had a revolving loan fund until last fall, used to help businesses create and retain permanent jobs. He says Oneida, Langlade and Florence counties had this type of fund...
"...they work to develop funds through the Community Development Block Grants in years past and they've developed hundreds of thousands of dollars that have been used to invest in businesses...."
Schuessler says other organizations have helped build the fund...
".....the first one to step forward was Co-Vantage Credit Union that staked a $25,000 and the Laona State Bank...was in the door with $25,000. We've seen a full $75,000 that we are putting together for this loan fund..."
The Partnership includes the Potawatomi Foundation and Potawatomi Community, city of Crandon, Sokaogon Chippewa Community, Forest County Government, Wabeno Chamber, and Forest County Chamber and Tourism Commission
