Gov. Walker Promises More Money To Train Docs

Walker says the budget will put more money in the the UW-Medical School's Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine, which helps place physicians in rural areas...

"....we're putting additional money into that program to expand the number of medical students who are trained....to go out to sites here and across the state into more rural areas..."

Walker says the budget will also help the Medical College of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa is looking to grow their outreach in northern and northeastern Wisconsin, including Wausau...

".....we're helping them with the establishment of that program and with the capital to build structures in both Wausau and in Green Bay..."

Walker says the extra money should provide up to 60 more physicians each year from the additional funding.

Walker says there are five areas the budget will emphasize, jobs, workforce development, upgrading education, reforming government and investing in infrastructure, such as healthcare.
