Numbers Show More State Budget Spending
Posted 03/16/2013
Todd Berry is President of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. He has a big-picture look...
"....it increases it about 3.3 percent this coming year and the year after. That compares to an average increase over the last five to seven years of something under two percent. But that slow growth reflects a period where there was a fairly deep recession...."
Berry says the surplus in the general fund would increase from a projection of $300 million to $500 million. He says the Walker Administration would cut the surplus to about $108 million dollars. He says trimming the general fund surplus that low could again put the state into a budget squeeze...
".....we move back to where we were four-six years ago when our budget balances were so small that when the recession appeared it pushed us into a fairly significant budget crisis..."
