Delta Announces Additional Summer Flights At Rhinelander

fly-rhi.org

Even more flights are becoming available for passengers at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport, nearly filling out the entire summer with three flights a day.

Airport Director Matthew Leitner says Delta has given the green light for a longer period of summer flights...

"...Delta has agreed to extend our summer schedule, which is to say, three round trips a day, from August 11 to August 31. Tickets will be for sale the second of March, reflecting that schedule change. Just to reiterate, that midday flight departs Minneapolis at 10:07 a.m., gets to Rhinelander at 11:21 a.m., departs Rhinelander at 11:46 a.m. and gets into Minneapolis at 1:02 p.m...."

Leitner says these flights are in addition to earlier flights set up by Delta for this summer...

"So beginning June 14 is the (beginning of) the third flight. With the airline climate as it is now there's a pilot shortage, mechanic shortage, capacity is hard to come by. And (Delta) agreed to increase Rhinelander's capacity recognizing we have huge demand in the summer months. As I often say, this is our chance, our opportunity if you will, 'use it or lose it' in a sense. If people want more flights, it would behoove them to use our airport..."

The airport uses SkyWest airlines to link passengers to Delta Airlines in Minneapolis-St. Paul. The enplanements in 2018 compared to 2017 were up more than 5 percent.
