Duffy, Engebretson Get Ready For Fall Campaign

Wikipedia.org

Democrat Margaret Engebretson was on the road early Wednesday after she had received her parties' nod to challenge incumbent Republican Sean Duffy for the Wisconsin 7th District Congressional seat.

Engebretson defeated physician Brian Ewert by 7,000 votes out of 50,000 cast. She says she and Ewert held similar views except in when it came to healthcare...

"...I'm advocating for a full transition, 'Medicare For All' public health insurance program. Most of the people out there are really tired of the complicated health care system that we have. People are paying way too much. One fall can destroy a person's life. Small businesses are under a lot of strain to pay for their own health insurance and it prevents them from hiring more employees...."

Engebretson says as the campaign turns toward the November election, she says she wants a U.S. Representative who is connected to northern Wisconsin...

"...I think what people want is a representative that gets elected and goes to Washington but still stays connected to the district and focuses on constituents needs..."

We reached to Congressman Duffy's office for his reaction to yesterday's vote. In an email statement, Duffy thanked Northwoods voters. "Thank you, northwoods Wisconsin for your continued support for my campaign and our shared vision for a stronger, more prosperous America. I will continue to work my heart out for you and your family, and continue to fight for policies that help people reach their American Dream.", Duffy said.
