First Educational Mining Forum Tonight(10/9) At Nicolet College

The first of four public forums designed for citizens to get more information about mining is set for tonight at Nicolet College.

Nine mining experts have been brought in to the sessions including representatives of UW-Extension, an engineering firm, workforce development, business, environmental groups among others.

The information sessions are sponsored by UW-Extension and Oneida County Economic Development Corporation.

Tonight's forum is at 7 p.m. at Nicolet College's Northwoods Center.

The second forum is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Nokomis town hall, the third sessions is set for 3 p.m. Thursday, October 18 at the Sugar Camp town hall, and the final session is Saturday, October 27 at the Minocqua Center in Minocqua.

That time is 10:30 a.m. The forums are leading up to a vote November 6 requested by the Oneida County Board whether the county should consider opening county forest to mining.
