Homicide Charges Possible After Nokomis UTV Crash Claims A Life

Oneida county officials will consider a possible homicide charge after a UTV crash in Nokomis Saturday evening claimed a passenger's life and seriously injured the driver.

Oneida County Sheriff's officials say a UTV driven by 47 year old Brenda Reiche of Weston crashed on The Point Road in Nokomis just before 8 p.m. Saturday. The UTV left the roadway and struck a tree off the side of the road.

49 year old Adam Rietz of Athens died at the scene. Reiche was also seriously injured. I

nvestigating authorities report alcohol was alleged to be involved in the crash. Reiche will likely be cited for UTV intoxicated operation refusal, operating a UTV without each operson wearing a safety belt, operating a UTV while under the influence of an intoxicant and operating a UTV in a careless manner.

A possible charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle will be forwarded to the Oneida County District Attorney's office for consideration. Several agencies responded to the crash scene.
