Jessie Dick Promoted to Station Manager

Jenny Bonardelli

The Board of Directors of WXPR Public Radio are pleased to announce that Jessie Dick has been selected as Station Manager. Dick has been working at WXPR for over 14 years, most recently as the Marketing Director and Volunteer Coordinator.

When Dick began working at the radio station, she was immediately hooked. “I had always loved storytelling and music, and it was clear to me that WXPR was a special place” she says. “We live in such a spread out area here in the Northwoods, and somehow there is this thriving radio station that serves thousands, is powered by hundreds of talented volunteers, and has a member base that trust us to serve the community.”

When the position became available, WXPR Board Chair, Jeff Burke immediately thought of Dick. “I have been at the station for 13 years and have yet to find a situation, development or endeavor about which Jessie’s not enthusiastic, knowledgeable, innovative and willing to take the lead,” he said. “It was the most natural decision to place her in a position where she could continue to provide the high-quality output that has become her reputation.” “She has accepted this promotion with the full support of the board and staff,” he continues.

Dick's experience at the station gives her strong insights and ideas about what will work to keep the station growing stronger. “This isn’t a responsibility I’m taking lightly,” she says. “WXPR is celebrating our 35th year later this month and I’ve never been more aware of how important keeping WXPR strong is for our community. With the support of staff, volunteers, and listeners, I’m looking forward to building on our current successes, while keeping WXPR relevant, informative and entertaining.”

A resident of Tomahawk where she resides with her husband and two children, Dick has also been involved with local community organizations like Partners in Education (PIE), Rhinelander Women’s Club, and ArtStart Rhinelander.
