Mayor Says Process Has Delayed New Administrator Announcement

WXPR

No decision was announced Monday after the Rhinelander city council met in closed session to discuss, in part, hiring a new City Administrator.

The city contracted with the public hiring firm GOVHR to find the next administrator.

Three names emerged as finalists, Daniel Guild, former Weston Village Administrator, Jeff Eder and Stephen Kil. Eder is the City Administrator in East Peoria, Illinois. Kil is the Town Manager of St. John, Indiana.

Frederickson says they're working to make sure the process stays intact...

"....In govenment or anything else, things happen, things change, usually change comes with meetings, meetings come with scheduling. It takes a fair amount longer. The whole process has somewhat surprised me. The contract when I looked at it....it's unique. So I'm working within the constraints of that contract to replace the city administrator..."

Former administrator Keith Kost resigned in April. The city council decided against hiring an interim administrator with an original timeline to have the new hire on board mid-summer.

Frederickson didn't say when a decision will be announced.

A longer interview with Frederickson will be heard Saturday morning during Weekend Edition as part of an on-going series discussing events in city government.
