Minocqua Caregivers Relief Organization Seeks Volunteers

Pastime Club Adult Day Center

A non-profit group that gives caregivers of Alzheimer's patients a break needs volunteers so they can continue helping the community.

The Pastime Club Adult Day Center operates Mondays and Thursdays at Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua.

Program Director Marilyn Towers says they operate on what's called a 'social model' where caregivers can bring their loved ones so they can get some rest....

"....it's two-fold...one is to give the caregivers the respite care they need. They know their loved one is safe here. And it's also having a good social interaction with other people...."

Towers says the folks who come to the daycare get interaction with others and activities.

She's hoping the community volunteers to come and speak about something they do or have a passion, such as travel, wood carving, quilting or collections...

"....we're looking for people who can play a musical instrument, a piano, guitar, clarinet, anything like that would be really cool...then we need volunteers who come on Monday or Thursday. We have morning times available and afternoon times available to help the staff out.Preparing our snacks and lunch and interacting with our people...."

The program is from 9 to 3 Mondays and Thursday. Towers says call them for more information at 715-358-3404 and leave a message, or you can go to their website at pastimeclub.org
