projectnorth.org

An event designed to bring music and arts fans and those who believe in sustainability to Rhinelander this fall is beginning to coalesce.

Project North Festival is scheduled to run Thursday, September 26- Sunday, September 29 in downtown Rhinelander and will run at the same time as School of the Arts.

The event is sponsored by ArtStart, WXPR, Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce and Nicolet College.

Chamber spokesperson Evan Verploegh outlines Project North...

"...For the length of the weekend, the whole community is going to be engulfed with concerts, arts, exhibitions, as well as a commitment to environmental sustainability which will manifest via lectures, discussions, roundtables, on how we can be responsible environmental stewards..."

Verploegh says the line up of bands is expected to be announced March 22...

"...We have some top-level bands from around the Midwest that I think a lot of people will be familiar with around the community, and live music that will encourage people to come from around the state and Midwest to the Rhinelander area....."

Verploegh says they're always looking for more sponsors, including area businesses and other organizations to either get involved financially or in an in-kind manner. He says they need volunteers to help plan the festival.

He says call the Rhinelander Chamber for more information (715-365-7464) or to get involved. There's also a website at http://www.projectnorth.org
