Nicolet Promise Rewards Students For Good Grades And Local Residency

Nicolet Area Technical College

Nicolet College is accepting applications for the Nicolet Promise program, designed to help pay for student tuition to Nicolet.

The Promise program began in 2016. Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, Kate Ferrel explains the program..

"....The purpose of the Nicolet Promise is to provide the post-secondary skills to students who are interested in improving their lives and as a result, our community. So they're going to start down the path here at Nicolet College toward meaningful careers and they'll come out the other end with a lot less debt...."

To be eligible, students must have graduated from high school or have earned a GED/HSAD between 2016 and 2018 or plan to graduate in 2019. They also must be eligible to receive federal student aid. They have to have a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher and reside in the district. They also have to maintain a 2.0 or higher grade point while at Nicolet.

Since the school is helping pay, Ferrel says they have some interesting numbers..

"Nicolet Promise students have completed almost 2,000 credits tuition free. They have completed 1,721 credits. That's an estimated cost savings(to students) of $282,000...."

The Nicolet College Foundation raises money to pay for the tuition. Prospective students have until next March to complete the Nicolet Promise requirements. More information is available by contacting Nicolet College in Rhinelander.
