Fast work by the Vilas County Sheriff's office results in the apprehension of an alleged prowler in an Arbor Vitae home.
Sheriff Joe Fath reports a 9-1-1 call came in at 3:42 a.m. Friday from a home on Highway 70 east. The spouse of the caller heard a noise in their dining room and saw a figure bent over the floor. When she touched the person the man jumped up and ran out the door. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
The Vilas Sheriff's office K9 unit and deputies looked around the area. The K9 unit followed tracks to a neighboring home.
At 5:40 a.m. a 22 year old man was taken into custody. The matter was forwarded to the District Attorney's office.
