Rhinelander Mayor Says Administrator Discussion Set For Monday

WXPR

More should be known after next Monday's city council meeting concerning the status of hiring a new Rhinelander city administrator.

The city has been working with a consulting firm to bring in a new administrator.

Mayor Chris Fredrickson said during the recording of his five-minute program this week that he hopes the council will move on the issue this coming Monday...

"....Government when it moves doesn't move the same way as anything else because there's ordinances, there's laws, there's a position, there's a job description, how we recruit is different, It's been a learning curve for me to dive into 'what does this mean?'. 'Why don't I have say here?' or 'Why are we not the ones looking here?' That being the case, it's still moving forward. Monday night we should be able to discuss it at our council meeting and then move forward with that...."

In July, a City of Rhinelander release listed former Weston administrator Daniel Guild,Jeff Eder and Stephen Kil as the three finalists for the Rhinelander job. Eder is the City Administrator in East Peoria, Illinois. Kil is the Town Manager of St. John, Indiana.

The city has held closed meetings since then to sort out the candidates. Frederickson says he's hoping to get a decision made as he's been doing the duties of both mayor and administrator since Keith Kost resigned in April.
