Three Vilas Co. Homicide Cases Moving Slowly Through The Court

Three open homicide cases pending in Vilas County court are moving forward slowly with a five day jury trial set for one next February, another with the person charged sitting in jail under a high cash bond, and a third four hours away whose signature bond is being delivered for signing by a public defender.

Michael Fabian, 51 formerly of St. Germain, resides in Columbus Wis. with his son, has yet to sign a $5,000 signature bond. Fabian is alleged to have been the driver of a vehicle May 26 in Arbor Vitae and rolled over, causing him to have a broken back and his passenger died. Fabian is alleged to have had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 and is charged with homicide by intoxicated operation of a vehicle.

Public defender Chad Lynch told the court he will meet with Fabian to obtain his signature on the bond form.

In a second case, Chad Goll, 32, of Racine faces a charge of 1st degree reckless homicide in the overdose death of Daniel Norton, 36 of Eagle River. Goll remains in custody under a $25,000 cash bond with motions set for the end of the month.

A third case involves Jeremiah Solis, foermerly of Eagle River, facing a charge of homicide by firearm influenced by a controlled substance and homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon in the shooting death of Connor Stephens. The incident happened Sept. 2017 at a home on East Wall Street in Eagle River by a pistol purchased at the gun show at the Eagle River sports arena.

A five day jury trial in set to start next Feb. 4.
