MINOCQUA -- Authorities have released the name of the snowmobiler who died in an accident Tuesday morning in Minocqua.

Deceased is Trey T. Kent, age 25, of Wisconsin Rapids. He died when his snowmobile struck a closed metal gate on South Stone Lake Road, west of Minocqua. Police received an emergency call at 2:33 a.m. Tuesday reporting a snowmobiler not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner.

Department of Natural Resources warden Tim Ebert said Kent was alone on his snowmobile, and traveling with one other snowmobiler. From his understanding, the warden said, Kent had not been on the private road before. The warden added that it was snowing at the time, and Kent was not wearing a helmet.
