Kick Start Program Designed To Get In The Exercise Habit
A Ministry Medical Group spokesperson hopes people remember their New Year's resolutions to get more physically active and join a group starting soon at the YMCA of the Northwoods.
Ministry Medical Group is teaming up with the YMCA of the Northwoods and the Northwoods LEAN Coalition to begin the Kick Start program.
Ministry Medical Group health coach Hope Williams says the program is designed to get people moving during a time when many people are sedentary...
".... a lot of people set New Year's resolutions, then come February they become a thing of the past. It's a nice way to reenergize people and say,'lets get going, lets get moving, summer is not that far away any more...."
Williams says they saw success stories last year...
"....it is absolutely free and open to the entire community. It can be anyone from eight to eighty if under 18 they will need their parents permission.(Last year) we had people that were completely on the couch at the beginning and by the end, they jogged/ran the whole 5K...."
The first event is February 9 at the YMCA of the Northwoods at 5 p.m. The first session follows the orientation and continues for 10 weeks. More information is available by calling Hope Williams at 715-361-4366 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
