Forest Frenzy Winter Triathlon Returns To Boulder Junction

Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce

It was the first event of its type in the state, and it appears it was so successful, they're holding a second event.

Boulder Junction is hosting the 2nd annual Forest Frenzy Winter Triathlon February 16. The event consists of a 7.5-kilometer cross-country ski course, a 5-kilometer snowshoe course and 7.5 kilometer fat tire bike course. Chamber of Commerce Director Theresa Smith says for a unique and first time event, they were pleased...

"...That was our first Forest Frenzy Winter Triathlon in Boulder Junction. This event is headquartered at Camp Manitowish YMCA and we use trails that are at Camp as well as trails in the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. It was an excellent event last year. There were perfect conditions, the trails were set up very nicely. We had 71 racers last year..."

Theresa Smith says they already have 100 participants. Events boost the northern economy during a period when tourist travel is often less than the warm weather months. More information is at the website (forestfrenzywintertriathlon.com
