The group putting together the Oneida County Fair announced late Wednesday the 2020 event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fair Coordinator Tom Barnett said sponsors and the community have been 'harshly impacted'.
The businesses are struggling and the resulting fair sponsorships have dropped off. Barnett says they are also sensitive to the impact it might have on fair attendees. He says what the future holds for socialization is unclear.
He says they're saddened by the decision but says it's the responsible action to take for the community and sponsors.Barnett says the committee is making plans for the 2021 Oneida County Fair.
