Minocqua--Agencies and business organizations are interested to see a recent survey among Wisconsin business owners in an effort to measure the economic loss and future recovery efforts from coronavirus.

Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, UW-Oshkosh joined with Grow North and other regional economic leaders in the Northwoods. The first round of surveys ended Monday.

Executive Director of Let's Minocqua Visitors Bureau and Chamber, Krystal Westfahl, says the survey is intended to assist state and regional leaders in planning for post COVID-19. She says it creates a baseline of information..

"The reason they're doing this is they're wanting to create these overall reports to be able to show to governments to see if there's additional assistance out there. This is unprecedented, so we don't know what this is going to do to the economy. What kinds of services and grants and loans that might be needed in the future...."

She says several area chambers and Grow North Regional Economic Development Corporation also participated. The results will be available at the county, region, and state levels.

Westfahl says this is the first round, named observation period #1. She says a second survey will arrive the week of May 3rd to provide more feedback. Westfahl says individual industries are also doing their own surveys, including restaurants. She says this survey will show a broad section of businesses in the region.

More information is on local chamber websites or at Minocqua.org
