On Tuesday March 24 from 4-6:30 pm, containers of ice cream will be given away at Calvary Baptist Church (320 Lincoln Street) in Rhinelander. According to Pastor Rod Ankrom, “There will be a semi-truck loaded with ice cream – and our goal is to distribute as much of it as we can in two and a half hours. We did this in October, giving away 19 pallets of ice cream – and we want to do it again! We want break our own record and make March 24 the biggest free ice cream giveaway in the history of Rhinelander.” The ice cream comes courtesy of Ruby’s Pantry, a ministry sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church. Ruby’s Pantry has a food distribution the third Tuesday of each month at the National Guard Armory in Rhinelander from 5-6:30 p.m. For a donation of $20 (cash), participants can receive approximately two laundry baskets of a wide variety of food. Guests to Ruby’s can register on-line or register on the day of the food distribution. Ankrom said, “Ruby’s Pantry is a way of showing God’s love in a practical way. There are no income requirements to participate. If you eat food, you qualify for Ruby’s Pantry. Some people believe that if they come to Ruby’s, they will be taking food away from someone else – but that is absolutely not true. Everyone is welcome to come to Ruby’s.” For more information about the Great Ice Cream Giveaway 2.0 or Ruby’s Pantry, please go to ExploreCalvary.com or call 715.362.4792 or connect with them on Facebook.
