Wisconsin Division of Forestry: Managing More Than the Trees! Heather Berklund, Chief State Forester Heather Berklund, Wisconsin’s new chief state forester and Minocqua area resident, leads the Science on Tap discussion about the state’s Division of Forestry – what it does, why trees are so important for a healthy environment, and how we can do our part for future generations. She believes in strong partnerships across our forestry community to ensure a healthy and robust forested landscape and industry. Heather has worked in the division since 2000 and was appointed chief state forester in October 2020. During her career she has worked as team supervisor for the Mercer-Mellen Team, Woodruff Area Leader, and most recently as Deputy Division Administrator for Field Operations.
