Suspect name released in Merrill shooting

Merrill Police Facebook

Police in Merrill have identified the man taken into custody after what's being called an accidental shooting death earlier this week.

27 year old Tanner Graap is facing a felony count of homicide by negligent use of a dangerous weapon after he says he shot an unidentified woman while trying to tuck a loaded handgun into a pocket on his jacket.

According to Graap he ran into a door frame while carrying the weapon, which caused his finger to accidentally pull the trigger.

Graap also admits to using heroine just before the shooting, which was reported at 11 am Tuesday.

He's being held on $25,000 bond, and will return to court in March
