"...with Gary you knew where you stood. He had a position and he stuck by it..and I admire him for that..."

Baier was elected in 1999. He had worked on land issues as a one-time chair of Planning and Zoning, he had chaired the county's Comprehensive Planning committee, and was a member of Forestry, Buildings and Grounds and Solid Waste, and Public Works committees and other committees over the years. He also served as chairman in the town of Nokomis for many years. He ran for the 12th State Senate seat in 2004.

Funeral services will be Saturday at the Krueger Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Visitation is at 11 a.m. with services at 1 p.m.

No replacement for Baier has been named by Cushing.

Earlier this year, another long time member, Paul Dean, also died
