Homicide Charge Continues For Tomahawk Woman

Oneida County Sheriff's Department

A woman charged as allegedly a party to the first degree murder of her uncle will have proceedings continue.

32 year old Latoya Wolf, now of Tomahawk,  was charged January 19 for the 2003 death of her uncle Kenneth Wells. Wells' body was found floating in the Wisconsin River off downtown Rhinelander.  At the time, the death was ruled a drowning. But renewed investigation by Rhinelander police led to Latoya Wolf's arrest.

The criminal complaint alleges Wolf, her estranged husband Shannon Wolf and two other men led Wells from downtown Rhinelander to the Wisconsin River. According to the criminal complaint, Latoya Wolf said Shannon Wolf struck Wells with a rock, then allegedly put a bag around Well's head until he stopped breathing then put him in the river. A dispute had arisen over an alleged unpaid drug deal. Wells was Latoya Wolf's uncle.

In 2013, Shannon Wolf was sentenced to 12 years in prison for attacking and injuring Latoya Wolf on Sutliff Avenue in Rhinelander.  They have since divorced.

Latoya Wolf found an attorney and Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom set another hearing date for March 3. She remains jailed on $100,000 cash bond.
