Raymond Jones Trial Begins In Forest County

A man charged with party to the crime of first-degree attempted homicide and several other charges entered a no contest plea to several of the charges, but the jury trial continues on the remaining charges in Forest county.

41 year old Raymond Jones and three others were charged after a man was found March of 2014 on a Forest county trail badly beaten. The criminal complaint alleges the man was beaten left for dead.  The man was found near Crandon while the incident was said to have occurred in Wabeno.

In court, Jones entered no contest pleas to false imprisonment, contributing to the delinquency of a child, suffocation and strangulation and disorderly conduct. But he decided to go to trial on the attempted homicide charge and kidnapping charges. Jury selection was underway this morning...

Jones' wife April pled to a charge of battery in the case and has been sentenced. Another defendant, Justin Bey of Wabeno has reached a plea deal to several charges and will be sentenced in August, as did Samantha McClellan, who reached a plea deal where she was found guilty of battery.
