Bids Moving Forward For Landfill Office Destroyed By Fire

Bids for a new office building for the Highway G landfill were discussed at a meeting of the executive committee seeking replacement of the office destroyed by fire.

The proposed new office facility would be two 14 foot wide trailers that could be moved when the proposed landfill expansion happens. Three proposals were received; from North Country for $56,934, Quality Homes for $59,900, and Dacco for $107,450.

President Scott Maciosek indicated two did not meet their specifications. “Both North Country and Quality Homes could not meet our persons with disabilities requirements and the door could only open inward rather than outward,” Maciosek said. “The Dacco trailers will meet our requirements but would have to have special permits for transporting them from Indiana, which would be expensive.”

Executive committee members Gary Schmidt and Frank Bauers both felt Dacco would be preferred, but requested modification to 12 foot wide. “If we downsized to 12 foot wide, we would not need special transportation permits so I would like to see what the price would be,” Schmidt said.

The executive committee met with Dick Harteinstein of Dacco Friday indicated the reduced requirements would drop the price to $98,000. The landfill requested delivery as soon as possible.
