After ten years of planning and fund raising, groundbreaking for the $2.5 million expansion and renovation of the Walter E. Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River happened March 30.
The new design will add 4,500 square feet to the existing 6,500 square feet with all funds raised by the Library Foundation.
Library director Nan Andrews said the added space is for people in order to offer more resources for youth, seniors, artists, and business owners, especially more space for computer use and a young adult room.
Foundation president Nancy Schaffer indicated she was "ecstatic" saying she hoped move in could be done yet this year. The general contractor for the project is OPN Architects.
The library serves the communities of Eagle River and the Towns of Lincoln, Washington, Conover, and St. Germain.
