A man is dead and a Crandon police officer is on administrative leave after a late Sunday traffic stop turned deadly.
Crandon Police report an unidentified city officer pulled over a car about 10:30 p.m. on North Wildwood Avenue.
During the course of the stop, the officer and a man from the car got into a physical altercation, with the officer shooting the man with his duty weapon.
The officer went to medical aid with non-life threatening injuries.
The Department of Justice says the officer was the only person who fired a shot. The state has taken over the investigation of the case. As is standard procedure, the officer is on administrative leave during the investigation into the incident
