Bad River Tribal Members Upset With Deputy Status

Some Bad River tribal members are angry after finding out that the Ashland County deputy who shot a 14-year-old to death on the reservation is back on limited duty.

Deputy Brock Mrdjenovich said teenager Jason Pero lunged at him with a knife in his hand last month.

Sheriff Mick Brennan says the deputy is doing office work, isn't on the street and is handling administrative duties only.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice has been investigating the fatal shooting and plans to release a final report in about two weeks.
