Eagle River Approves 2019 Budget With Increase

City of Eagle River

The Eagle River city council walked through their proposed 2019 budget line by line this week (11/26) with only a few modifications from an early draft, ending with $3,186,000 in expenses less $1,691,000 in revenue resulting in a tax levy of $1,495,000 and a tax rate of $8.63 per $1,000 of value.

This is an increase of twenty-seven cents from last year.

Police chief Mark Vander Bloomen added funds for festival and event monitoring, primarily Cranberry Fest in October.

The budget calls for $142,000 for street work including Tamarack, sidewalks, and crack sealing.

City administrator Joe Laux suggested improvements at Silver Lake beach by adding swimming lessons and four lanes estimate at $30,000 that he will discuss with the Rotary Club which has funded past beach improvement.
