As temperatures warm, the City of Rhinelander is ending the running water credit this Sunday.
To prevent troublesome and costly frozen water pipes during the peak of the cold weather months, the water utility allows customers to let water run to prevent freeze up. Customers who arrange to have the water trickle get a credit toward the larger water bill.
Running water credit will not be allowed for water supplies metered after March 31.
Officials say it appears the credit has minimized the freezing of pipes and reduced operational costs.
