Sable Hired To Lead Eagle River Golf Course

Eagle River Golf Course

A new golf pro and former Antigo native, Anthony Sable, has been hired by the Eagle River city council to manage the 18 hole municipal course and is scheduled to start this week.

Sable had been the head golf professional at the Wilderness Club resort in Eureka, MT for the last five years and indicated he wanted to return to Wisconsin, taking an assistant store director's position at Trig's in Rhinelander. Sable is a certified golf instructor and has worked at public and private golf courses since 1998 after being discharged from the Coast Guard. He holds an Associate degree from the Golf Academy of America and a Bachelors degree from UW-Stevens Point.

Sable expressed his personal view of managing a public golf course. “I have a lifetime of acquired skills to offer a golf course and excel at forming sincere personal relationships that are crucial to guest satisfaction. Exceeding customer service expectations by greeting guests by name and treating each individual person with respect is my particular passion.”

Sable will also manage the pro shop but the city will be the owner. He is currently living in Lac du Flambeau and is searching for a home in the Eagle River area. He will be paid $4,000 a month during his 10 month contract which expires the end of this year. He replaces Patti Marquis who resigned.
