Gogebic Range Health Foundation is Focus of Next Iron County Forum

Aspirus

How to connect Gogebic and Iron County residents with resources promoting healthy lifestyles through a newly developed foundation is the focus of this month’s Iron County Citizens' Forum.

Residents are invited to the May 23rd meeting showcasing the Gogebic Range Health Foundation. The foundation is made up of community leaders dedicated to helping communities meet their health goals through grant making, fundraising and collaboration with health focused organizations. Iron County Citizen Forum Coordinator Terry Daulton says the meeting will focus on how to get involved with the foundations’ grant program to secure funding for courses promoting health and wellness. She says this is especially important for aging communities….

“…As many people may know, we have lots of aging folks in Iron and Gogebic Counties and as the population continues to age with the baby boomers coming up on retirement age, maintaining health and fitness is going to be essential to the communities in the area. This is a newly established foundation in the area that’s going to be helping with that and a lot of people don’t know about it. We want people to know about the grants they can apply for and the partnerships that are available.”

She says people on the foundation’s board will be guest speakers, and will talk about the grant process, the foundation’s mission, vision and impact.

The meeting is at 7pm at the Cold Iron Brewery in downtown Ironwood.  The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information visit the Iron County Citizen Forum website
