The Iron County Sheriff’s Office says a LaCrosse man died in a snowmobile accident this week.
First responders got called to a crash on Trail 77 between Gile and Hurley Thursday night around 10:45.
The caller said there was an unresponsive man.
No one saw the crash happen, but police believe the man crashed into a tree while trying to make a turn on the trail.
The 55-year-old man died in the crash.
It’s still under investigation, but the sheriff’s office says speed appears to be a factor.
This is the third snowmobile-related death in Wisconsin so far this year.
The other two deaths were reported in Langlade and Oconto counties.
