The Forest County Sherriff’s Office is warning residents of an IRS phone scam that’s worked its way through Central Wisconsin. Sheriff John Dennee says scammers claim to be employees of the IRS telling people they owe money, and then threaten arrest if a payment isn’t immediately made. He is reminding people to never give out personal or bank account information through the phone unless you can verify the information they are requesting is for a legitimate reason.
