Governor Walker Requests Federal Disaster Aid for Northern Wisconsin

Northern Wisconsin is still recovering from the torrential rains and flash floods that caused more than 25 million dollars in damage to public roads and infrastructure nearly a month ago. Now Governor Scott Walker is requesting federal disaster aid.

Walker sent a letter to President Barack Obama requesting aid for Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Iron, Price, Sawyer and Washburn Counties and the Bad River tribal nation.

If the aid is approved, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide 75 percent of eligible costs with the state of Wisconsin and the affected communities sharing the remaining 25 percent.

Governor Walker plans to visit the area Friday.
