As recovery efforts continue in Iron, Ashland and Bayfield Counties detours are changing.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Ashland County opened a new detour for Wisconsin 13 between Mellen and Ashland. The new route uses Ashland County C for car traffic and eliminates travel time by 40 miles. Truck traffic will still be required to follow Wisconsin 77, US 51 and US 2.
Communications Manager Diana Maas (mah-s) says detours in Bayfield and Iron Counties remain the same. Crews working to repair damages to US 63 in Bayfield County are ahead of schedule and expect it to be open to traffic next week.
Wisconsin 122 is open North of US 2 to the Michigan border, but there is still no access to Michigan or Saxon Harbor from Wisconsin 122 in Iron County.
Crews are repairing washouts along Wisconsin 169 and are expected to complete that work by August 12. 169 between Wisconsin 13 and US will remain closed until August 31.
