Motorcycles by the tens of thousands will be in the Northwoods in just over two weeks for the 35th Annual Tomahawk Fall Ride. The ride is held in conjunction with Harley-Davidson, which has production plants in Tomahawk, and is a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The weekend has events at Sara Park in downtown Tomahawk and large musical events around the area.
Chamber of Commerce Director Jesica Witte says the event is a tremendous boost for the economy…
“..our town literally, sometimes they say towns triple in size, ours grows by about 10 times during the fall ride weekend. We get upwards of 40,000 cyclists and enthusiasts visiting the region and they spread beyond the Tomahawk region. We have visitors who stay as far south as Wausau.”
Witte says you don’t have to be a Harley Davidson enthusiast to have a good time…
“…There are a lot of fun color runs that coincide with this event and of course the biggest push for this event is that it benefits the MDA. Their events are held right in downtown Tomahawk; it’s the official site where people do demo rides, they can get their official merchandise, we have a variety of food vendors…”
Witte says they’ve had an exceptional summer tourist season and this adds one more major draw to a successful year. The event runs through September 14 through the 18. More information is online at tomahawkfallride.com
