Evers Signs Executive Order to Achieve Carbon-Free Electricity by 2050

tonyevers.com

Governor Tony Evers wants to the state of Wisconsin to eliminate the use of carbon-based fuel by 2050.

The executive order signed Friday also creates the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy to help promote the development of renewable energy and achieve the goal of carbon-free electricity.

The Republican-controlled legislature has already rejected a similar proposal. Evers said,“Unfortunately this should have been a priority for the entire legislature, but it wasn’t. And so we’re making it a priority.”  The governor says he's extremely confident that the utilities in the state of Wisconsin are moving forward on this issue already.
