Marathon County Reports First COVID-19 Death

Marathon County Health Department

Marathon County announced its first death related to the COVID-19 outbreak over the weekend.

A news release Saturday from the Marathon County Health Department confirmed the death.  The release said the death was of an elderly resident, but did not provide any other information.

Health Officer Joan Theurer said they were saddened by the loss of a community member, and extended sympathies to their loved ones.  She strongly encouraged people to stay at home unless their activities are essential.

There have been 14 positive cases of COVID-19 in Marathon County.
