For the second time this summer, someone has died after a fall at a waterfall in western Upper Michigan’s Gogebic County.
On Friday evening, Michigan State Police troopers from the Wakefield Post were called to the area of the Presque Isle Campground. That’s off Gogebic County Road 519. A 911 call reported someone had fallen from the falls. Troopers arriving on the scene located the man in the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In July, 22-year-old Stephanie Navarez of Watertown, Wisconsin, died at Rainbow Falls in Ironwood Township. She had been hiking above the falls and slipped while trying to cross the river. She was carried over the falls and died.
