Tiffany Defeats Zunker Again, Holds Congressional Seat

Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-Minocqua) has been reelected in northern Wisconsin, again defeating Wausau School Board President Tricia Zunker, a Democrat, in the 7th Congressional District.

In May, Tiffany defeated Zunker by 14 points in a special election to replace former Congressman Sean Duffy, who resigned.

In both the spring campaign and fall campaign, Tiffany aligned himself closely with President Donald Trump.

“In just the few short months that I’ve served as your Congressman, we have already been able to get some great things done, and I am excited to jump right back into the work and continue getting things done for the people of the 7th District," Tiffany said in a statement.

The district has been held by Republicans since 2011. Prior to that, it was represented by Democrat Dave Obey for 41 years.

Ben worked as the Special Topics Correspondent at WXPR from September 2019 until November 2021. He now contributes occasionally to WXPR. During his full-time employment, his main focus was reporting on environment and natural resources issues in northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula as part of The Stream, a weekly series.
