Good Samaritan Returns Money Found on Wausau Sidewalk

Wausau Police Facebook

Wausau Police are applauding a good samaritan who found $3,000 in cash and gift envelopes on a residential sidewalk Wednesday morning.

Luis Lopes-Serrao of the Wausau Police Department says the money had recently been withdrawn from a Peoples State Bank location.

Lopes-Serrao says especially in this difficult year, it's good to see people looking out for each other, even if it's complete stranger.

“The fact that he was willing to turn it in and get it to the right person was very awesome”.

Lopes-Serrao says the money was likely meant for Christmas or Holiday gifts, meaning this person's act helped make the season a little brighter for some.

“They’re just trying to celebrate the holidays.  It would have devastated that person that the money got lost, so I’m really glad it got back to the right person”

Lopes-Serrao says the money was withdrawn sometime Tuesday afternoon.

The good Samaritan found the envelope early Wednesday morning. The unidentified person did receive a gift card for their good work.
